WHY WE CHOSE ENROLLMENT

We chose to report on low enrollment because of how much it has affected colleges nationwide and locally in our county. In California alone, enrollment rates have dropped 8.1% from Spring 2021 to Spring 2022, according to Estrella Rosas.  This trend we've seen has affected us here in Kern County. Education is important to us and Kern County, so choosing to report on this topic was a no-brainer 

In reporting on this, we want to show students who had to leave school and who are struggling to stay that they are not alone. Bringing awareness to these numbers is the first step in getting enrollment back up and having colleges be able to use their resources to the fullest extent.
